SEVEN SIDES INTO THE GRAND FINAL
Mooroolbark goes into grand final week with an unprecedented five senior and two junior teams playing in premiership deciders after a sensational weekend of cricket.
The under 16/1's and the under 12/4's got the ball rolling when they won their semi finals on Sunday morning with the 16/4's (J.B. and Quack's boys), 14/1's (Brushy and Painter) and 14/3's unfortunately losing.
Chandler 1 accounted for Kilsyth by 80 odd runs with Kenny Trollope (96 n.o.) amongst the runs again.
Chandler 4 wiped the floor with Lilydale easily passing their total of 214 with only 2 wickets down. Patch (79) and nightwatchman, Craig Holwell (92 n.o.), starred with the bat.
The 5th XI won an epic, and sometimes fiery, encounter at Norwood. After setting a target of 260 on Saturday Tony's boys looked in strife with Norwood 3/170 at tea before Tim Meredith (5 wickets), with the help of J.B. (3 wickets) tore through them giving the Barkers an unlikely 11 run victory.
The 6th XI set a target of 260 on Saturday through the work of Ben Mullett (75n.o.) and Chris James (24) who shared in a 98 run stand for the last wicket. They managed to bowl out Ainslie Park 30 runs short with David Gale taking 4 wickets.
The 7th XI had an easy victory over East Ringwood after amassing 360 runs on day one with Dick Linley (91) and Ben Woods (80) the major contributors.
